ABOUT YVONNE

"Since I can remember, creating has always been in my heart. Born and raised in Manchester, England, I began drawing when I was young. After high school, I completed a two year diploma in art and design at a local college and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Multidisciplinary Art and Design at Staffordshire University. Shortly after, I moved to the USA and continued developing my artist skills under several local artists in Washington, D.C. 

 

Years later, after my youngest of two children had left the nest and without a plan on where to take my life next, my husband encouraged me to start painting more and exhibit the work that had begun to accumulate! And so the journey of inward exploration began. 

 

I indulged in trying new styles, giving a new sense of achievement and taking time to enjoy the process. In the evolution of developing my style, I feel most liberated while working on nature-based abstract pieces, hoping to evoke an emotion. Mainly using acrylic paint on cotton canvas, my paintings are often characterized by ethereal brushstrokes and texture, using tools to capture a sense of energy. My paintings take on a new meaning as layers of vivid colors thoughtfully develop. Expressing myself on canvas and creating unique abstracts for home and office spaces has become a voyage about who I am, and I love it!".
